North Island College

For 35 years, North Island College (NIC) has served the growing educational needs of the North Island region. As a publicly funded, board-governed post-secondary institution, NIC offers over 900 courses and 70 programs in health care, trades, business, fine arts, tourism, and university studies leading to certificates, diplomas, associate degrees and bachelor degrees. In addition, the College has formalized dual admission agreements with the University of Victoria, Emily Carr University, Royal Roads University and Vancouver Island University. NIC further serves the North Island by providing contract training, international education, and professional and personal development.

With four campuses and three centres, NIC serves a geographic region of 80,000 square kilometers, including central and northern Vancouver Island, and the BC mainland coast from Desolation Sound to Klemtu. From 2010 to 2011, over 11,200 students completed courses and/or programs at NIC. By providing unparalleled advances in distance learning and state-of-the-art facilities such as the LEED-certified Trades Training Centre at the Comox Valley campus, NIC offers students an opportunity to access quality educational resources in a stunning North Island environment. Multicultural and Immigrant Services Association of North Vancouver Island

The Immigrant Welcome Centre of Campbell River provides services to immigrants as they settle into our community. As immigration becomes an important process in workforce development, the services we provide create a foundation of community connection that increases interest in staying in our community. Our services help employers and businesses through the direct services assistance in settling newcomers (i.e. housing, SIN, health services and community connections), as well as, helping immigrants navigate the sometimes overwhelming processes of working with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

North Vancouver Island Aboriginal Training Society is a community driven organization assisting Aboriginal people to achieve self-sufficiency by endeavouring to deliver the highest quality training and employment opportunities in the North Vancouver Island Region. Funded by Services Canada Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Program, NVIATS works with Industry and Employers to meet the skilled workforce demand from north of Qualicum Beach to Port Hardy and surrounding communities.
